Prior to forming SKLaw with John Kuhl, Mr. Sanford was a partner at the law firm of Vinson & Elkins in the Public Law Section. Prior to that, he was an attorney with the law firm of Liddell, Sapp, Zivley, Hill & LaBoon. Mr. Sanford was born in Lubbock, Texas. He received a B.A. and LL.B. from the University of Texas. His many accolades include: One Hundred Most Powerful Lawyers in America, National Law Journal (1988 &1985); Who's Who in the South and Southwest, 19th Edition (1985); and Best State Lobbyist, Texas Monthly (1976). He serves as a guest faculty member at the Texas A & M University Law Center (South Texas College of Law), where he lectures in legislation. While attending the University of Texas, he served as president of the UT Student’s Association. His honorary associations and fraternities and include Phi Delta Phi, Texas Cowboys, and Delta Tau Delta. Mr. Sanford has served on the Board of Directors for the Tejas Breakfast Club and the St. Charles Bay Hunt Club. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the American Bar Association.
